Dears,
I don't find articles such as "The End of the World? In Brazil, It’s Already Here", by Vanessa Barbara, dated Jan 5, productive in the least. It is poorly argued; it uses exaggerated language and distorts facts; it contradicts reporting made on the ground by the Times hard-working correspondents. The analysis is inadequate and ideological, resorting to jargon and name calling.
These superficial opinion pieces by Vanessa Barbara represent the worst tendencies in Brazilian journalism. The Times would never accept such low quality journalism from American journalists or about the US. It is condescending and insulting that you publish it just because it comes from a Third World country.

It is a disservice to journalism to publish the article "The End of the World? In Brazil, It’s Already Here", by Vanessa Barbara, dated Jan. 5, 2017. It is poorly argued, uses ideological jargon to accuse people and organizations of guilt by association, resorts to exaggeration and distortion of facts, and contradicts the reporting done by your hard-working correspondents in Brazil. The article is dismissive about the efforts of a country trying to find its way out a challenging situation. Political debate in Brazil has been polarized in recent years, and it is easy to find an opinionator who will support extreme criticism of one side or another. We have seen where this leads in the United States.
You would not accept such low standards from an American journalist or from writing about the United States. It is condescending and insulting that you lower your standards and keep publishing such poorly researched and written pieces about a Third World country.
