Perhaps someone can translate
Pardon my writing in English. Perhaps someone can translate. Though able to read Portuguese with fair understanding, my writing is not so good. Though I agree with much of what is written here, particularly regarding the evil of corporate censorship of the arts and literature so prevalent these days, let me point out that education is not very helpful. There is a test given in the USA to determine how well readers comprehend the content of their reading. In the 1970s, over 70% of college graduates were able to read and understand relatively difficult material. In 2004, this number was 30%. That is to say, only 30% of college graduates in the US can read with comprehension (in other words, 70% of US college graduates cannot read). 20% of these quasi-literates are unable to understand the text in newspapers. I personally have witnessed this as teacher, as editor, and as researcher in the high technology industry.
